Historical Hounds

History is better with your dog.

Historical Hounds offers dog-friendly historical walking tours in Massachusetts for people who would rather bring their four-legged adventure companion along for the side quest. Led by Torin, a trained historian and professional dog trainer, our walking tours explore local history, folklore, legends, strange stories, and the slightly morbid events that don't always make it onto the cheerful little historical plaques.

And yes, your dog is invited. In fact, they're kind of the whole point.

Unlike traditional historical tours where bringing a dog may be restricted or come with additional fees, Historical Hounds was specifically created as a dog-friendly activity for people and their dogs. There are no additional pet fees, no apologizing for bringing your dog, and no leaving your adventure companion behind.

Our tours combine Massachusetts history, local folklore, outdoor exploration, and dog-friendly enrichment into an experience both ends of the leash can enjoy. Routes and pacing are planned with dogs in mind, with opportunities to walk, sniff, explore, and take breaks along the way.

Whether you're a history nerd, folklore enthusiast, dog person, lover of mildly concerning local stories, or some unholy combination of all four—welcome to the party.

Come for the history. Stay for the folklore. Bring the dog.

Choose Your Dog-Friendly Adventure

Not every dog wants the same kind of adventure. Historical Hounds offers three options for our dog-friendly historical walking tours in Massachusetts, making local history, folklore, and outdoor adventures accessible to social butterflies, selective weirdos, and dogs who would sincerely prefer everyone stay the hell over there.

Private Custom Tours
Looking for a private dog-friendly activity? Our private walking tours are customized around you, your dog, and your interests. Choose from local history, folklore, legends, strange events, and delightfully morbid stories while we tailor the route, pace, and experience to your dog’s individual needs. Private tours are also an excellent option for reactive, anxious, or easily overwhelmed dogs who prefer exploring without a group.

Tours with Social Dogs
Our dog-friendly group walking tours are designed for dogs who are comfortable exploring around other dogs and people. Enjoy Massachusetts history, local folklore, and plenty of sniffing while adventuring alongside other dog-and-human teams. Perfect obedience isn't required—your dog just needs to be comfortable sharing the quest with the rest of the party.

Tours with Reactive, Timid & Space-Sensitive Dogs
Reactive dogs deserve cool shit too. These reactive dog-friendly walking tours are specifically designed for dogs who are anxious, timid, reactive, or simply need more personal space. We use smaller groups, thoughtful routes, appropriate distance, and training-minded handling to create an experience where dogs can explore without being expected to greet or interact with other dogs.

Because dog-friendly should mean more than friendly dogs only.
